We've just been announced as the winner of this amazing competition, and we're super proud! It's a huge achievement for us and means we have our first supermarket listing - and a prize of £50,000!
Ocado are really embracing the key trends in the market, including vegan, organic,free-from and wellness. It's a great place to shop as they stock more product lines than a traditional supermarket, giving more choice. Their statement 'Veganism and free-from eating are now mainstream, but new statistics from Ocado show that the rate at which UK shoppers are embracing plant-based diets is still accelerating. Ocado searches using the word ‘vegan’ more than doubled in 2018 and sales of free from products increased by 16%' shows their understanding of the vibrant market.
Earlier this year, we entered the competition, and impressed final round judges Janet Leigh, Rose Price and Lawrence Hene (Good Housekeeping’s Food Testing Manager, Ocado’s Head of Buying and Ocado’s Marketing and Commercial Director respectively), and triumphed over more than one hundred other contestants.
We received instant praise from Karen Makepeace, Buying Manager at Ocado, who said: “I was instantly intrigued by Sweet Revolution. Jane has created a company that brings something new to hot drinks, and has opened up the category for everyone to enjoy, regardless of their dietary restrictions and decisions. For me, this was a key part of Jane’s success as Britain’s Next Top Supplier. It also doesn’t hurt that the drinks are delicious!”
Britain’s Next Top Supplier was founded by Ocado to help small food and drink companies start selling to UK shoppers on a national level. Small suppliers are more important than ever, as 72% of shoppers increasingly look at where their food comes from, while 61% believe that supermarkets aren’t doing enough to support small businesses.
